Laid across the whole area with the sheets lapped, so weeds cannot come through the joins and the gravel cannot work down into the soil.
Set the edges
Timber, metal or a block course, set to hold the stone. This is what stops gravel migrating into your borders.
Gravel and rake
Angular stone spread to depth and raked off level. Around 40mm on a drive, so it does not rut and it still walks comfortably.
