The Work

Clearing overgrown trees, hedges and gardens in Crystal Palace

Overgrown Trees & Gardens across Crystal Palace and the streets around it. What follows is how the job runs wherever we are; what changes from one Crystal Palace address to the next is access, and that is what we come and look at before quoting.

A garden left for a couple of seasons stops being a garden. Bramble takes the borders, self-seeded sycamore and buddleia come up along the fence, and a shrub that was fine three years ago is now across the path and up against the windows. It looks like more than it is: most of it is a day or two with the right kit and somewhere for the waste to go.

The same goes for a tree that has outgrown its spot, leaning over the roof, taking the light off the garden, or pushing branches across the boundary. We come and look at what is actually there, tell you what has to go and what is worth keeping, and give you a price before anything starts.

  • A look on site before any price, so you know what is coming out and what is staying
  • Overgrown trees reduced, reshaped or taken down where they have outgrown the space
  • Brambles, scrub and self-seeded growth cleared back to the ground
  • Branches overhanging from a neighbour cut back to the boundary line, no further
  • Everything chipped or loaded out, and the ground left swept and walkable

What We Do

What overgrown trees & gardens covers

The parts of the job, and what each of them is actually for.

1

Send a photo

A picture or two of the garden or the tree tells us most of what we need. It always looks worse in the flesh than in a photo, so do not worry about the state of it.

2

We come and look

Someone walks the site, works out what is coming out and what is staying, and checks whether any tree carries a preservation order. You get the price in writing.

3

We check the boundary

Where growth crosses a boundary, we sort out what is yours to cut and what wants a word with the neighbour first, so nothing is taken that should not be.

4

We clear it

Trees come back or come down in the agreed way, scrub is cut to the ground, and the chipper runs alongside so nothing stacks up by the gate.

5

We tidy up

Arisings go with us or stay as chippings for your borders, and the ground is left swept and usable. Most gardens are one visit.

The Price

Overgrown Trees & Gardens costs in Crystal Palace

An overgrown garden almost always looks like a bigger job than it is, and the price turns on access and where the waste goes rather than on how wild it looks. So it gets quoted on site: someone comes out, sees what is really there under the growth, and gives you a figure in writing. The visit is free and there is no obligation.

  • How much is coming out, and whether it is scrub and bramble or standing trees.
  • Access, and how the waste gets from the garden to the road.
  • Whether any tree has to come down in roped sections rather than be felled whole.
  • Preservation orders and conservation areas, which set a consent period before work can start.
  • Whether stumps are ground out or left, and whether you keep the chippings.

Why Choose Us

Why Crystal Palace calls us back

  • The price comes after we have seen it

Access decides most of what a tree job costs, and you cannot see access down a phone line. Someone comes and looks, then you get a figure in writing that does not move on the day.

  • We finish the job the same day we start it

The chipper runs alongside the cutting, so there is no stack of brash left by the gate waiting on a second visit.

  • Trees and grounds from one team

The same crew fells the tree, washes the patio it was dropping on, and lays the turf afterwards. You are not chasing three different trades to finish one garden.

  • You are told when something is a bad idea

Conifers cut past the green never recover. Gravel over bare soil sinks. Where a job will not give you what you are hoping for, we say so before quoting, not after.

  • You do not pay until you are happy with it

No deposit up front, and nothing asked for until the work is finished and you have checked it over. There is a fourteen day cooling off period on top of that.

FAQs

Crystal Palace overgrown trees & gardens questions

Can you cut back a neighbour's tree that overhangs my garden?

You are entitled to cut growth that crosses your boundary, back as far as the boundary line but no further. The cuttings legally belong to the tree's owner, so it is worth a word with them first, and we will tell you what is reasonable to take when we look at it.

My garden is completely overgrown, is it too far gone?

Almost never. What looks like a jungle is usually a day or two of cutting and clearing. We take it back to the ground, show you what is worth keeping, and leave you something you can actually use again.

Do I need permission to cut back an overgrown tree?

Sometimes. A tree with a preservation order, or any tree in a conservation area, needs written consent from the council before work starts. Give us the address when you call and we will tell you what applies before anything is booked.

What happens to all the waste?

It goes through the chipper on site where it can, and the rest is loaded out with us. You can keep the chippings for borders and paths if you want them, otherwise nothing is left behind.

Will you have to take the whole tree out?

Not usually. Most overgrown trees can be reduced or reshaped rather than felled, which keeps the screen or the shade you want while getting the size back under control. We only take a tree down where it genuinely has to go, and we say so before quoting.
